What is Complexion Repair Acne Treatment Serum?

The Acne Treatment Serum is a gentle silicone-based serum that works deep within the skin and pores to combat all three events that cause acne without damaging the skin's protective barrier or causing redness. The three events associated with acne are:

1. Blocked pores are plugged with sebum (oil) and dead skin cells.

2. Bacteria withing the pores multiply and secrete substances that trigger an immune response.

3. Immune cells enter the pore to kill the bacteria, causing inflammation and swelling.

This treatment serum contains 2% salicylic acid (FDA-approved medicine for acne). The product also contains Therosol® and Therosol®-E. the two Therosol® compounds work synergistically to improve the appearance of acne-damaged skin.

 

What is Acne Treatment Serum used for?

The Acne Treatment Serum is a proprietary silicone-based product containing the OTC drug, 2% salicylic acid. This product works rapidly to clear acne and does so without drying the skin, causing redness or irritation, or causing sensitivity to the sun. The result is a radiant, moisturized, acne-free complexion. For best results, use this serum in complement with the rest of the Complexion Repair Acne Treatment System.

 

How do I use Acne Treatment Serum?

After cleansing skin with Complexion Repair Foaming Cleanser, apply Acne Treatment Serum evenly to all affected areas of the skin. Because Acne Treatment Serum is a strong product, you may experience mild tingling or stinging when first applied. This will subside in a minute or two. For best results, it should be used at least once a day alternating morning/evening with the Topical Rehydrating Emulsion. If using in combination with any other product, allow the first product to fully absorb before applying the other. As with any product, if irritation develops discontinue use.

Cyclomethicone and Dimethiconol

A blend of 2 skin-friendly silicones that produce a greaseless, fast–absorbing, elegant feel when applied to the skin. They can quickly penetrate into the top-most layer of the skin (stratum corneum) where they help to produce a barrier against water loss, thus allowing the skin to retain moisture. This silicone blend is non-irritating and non-comedogenic.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

This naturally occurring triglyceride is prepared from coconut oil as well as from other plants. It is widely used in skin care products because it leaves a soft, non-greasy feel on the skin, improves spreading of creams & lotions, and is an excellent vehicle & solvent for active ingredients.

Dimethicone

Dimethicone is used widely in skin care products because of its safety, and for its superior spreadability and excellent emollient properties. Dimethicone has also been approved by the FDA for use as an Over-The-Counter skin protectant. It is extremely safe and gentle on the skin and acts as a barrier to protect the skin and reduce moisture loss.

Therosol®

Therosol® is a proprietary and patent-pending botanically derived ingredient discovered by DermaMedics’ scientists. Laboratory research studies on cultured human skin cells have shown that Therosol® can block the production of inflammatory hormones in a variety of skin and immune cells that cause vasodilation, irritation and skin damage. In this cleanser, it helps to calm the skin and reduce the appearance of redness.

Triclosan

An excellent anti-bacterial ingredient and preservative, Triclosan, is commonly used in a variety of hand-soaps to reduce bacterial contamination. Triclosan has been shown to kill 99% of various common bacteria in 60 seconds.

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is a gentle “beta-hydroxyl” acid that helps exfoliate the skin. It boosts cell turnover which brings the existing melanin to the skin’s surface where it can be discarded.
