DermaMedics hydrating body lotion
What is DermaMedics’ Hydrating Body Lotion?
Your skin is exposed to the changing and harsh conditions of the environment all day long. This can lead to severe skin dryness and damage to the skin’s protective surface barrier. DermaMedics’ Hydrating Body Lotion not only replenishes the water lost from your skin throughout the day but also provides long-lasting moisture to help protect the integrity of the skin’s surface. By absorbing quickly, it can provide refreshing rehydration without feeling sticky or leaving a film on your skin. This lotion contains Therosol®, a patent pending phytochemical, which has been clinically proven to improve skin dryness and texture and reduce the appearance of redness over a four week period. Therosol® has also been shown in laborat ory studies with human skin cells, to 1) stimulate collagen and elastin production, 2) reduce the expression of enzymes known as MMPs which break down collagen and elastin, and 3) reduce the production of inflammatory hormones that can cause rapid skin aging. Hydrating Body Lotion is formulated with a high level of skin friendly oils and lipids to help restore the balance of oils necessary to maintain the integrity of the skin.
What is Hydrating Body Lotion used for?
DermaMedics’ Hydrating Body Lotion is used daily to nourish and hydrate dry, scaly skin. The antioxidant and moisturizing properties of this luxurious lotion counter moisture and elasticity loss while supporting the skin’s regenerative process to restore smooth, healthy, luminous skin.
How do I use Hydrating Body Lotion?
After cleansing, apply generously and evenly to the body, particularly to dry, rough areas exposed to the environment. For best results apply twice daily. It is gentle enough to apply as often as necessary to soften and moisturize skin. As with any skin care product, discontinue use if irritation develops.
Are there any concerns regarding the use of the Hydrating Body Lotion?
No Sunscreen – Hydrating Body Lotion does not contain any sunscreen. Because of this, if the product is going to be applied in the morning to sun exposed areas, we recommend that a lightly moisturizing lotion with an SPF of 15 be applied as well. Allow one product to completely absorb into the skin before applying the second product.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
This naturally occurring triglyceride is prepared from coconut oil as well as from other plants. It is widely used in skin care products because it leaves a soft, non-greasy feel on the skin, improves spreading of creams & lotions, and is an excellent vehicle & solvent for active ingredients.
Tocopheryl Acetate
Also known as Vitamin E acetate, tocopheryl acetate is an excellent antioxidant and helps protect the skin by neutralizing free radicals.
Potassium Lactate, Sodium PCA
Sodium PCA is a naturally occurring humectant in the skin, partly responsible for the skin’s moisture-binding capacity. It is derived from amino acids and is highly water absorbing.
Glycerin
This excellent humectant absorbs and retains moisture in the skin. It is extremely mild when applied topically, and can be used at high concentrations.
Jojoba Oil
This oil is prepared from the seed of the jojoba plant and, unlike many natural oils, is chemically similar to the oil produced by sebaceous glands of the skin. It is a superior moisturizing emollient which helps soften and smooth skin. Jojoba oil is so gentle and pure that it can be applied to cracked and damaged skin to help moisturize and restore the skin’s barrier.
Sunflower Oil
This light oil supplies more Vitamin E than any other vegetable-derived oil. Sunflower oil, like other oils, helps to retain moisture in the skin. However, it may also provide a protective barrier that resists infection.
Isostearyl Palmitate
A fatty acid ester with excellent emollient properties, isostearyl palmitate is non-irritating and can be used at high concentrations on the skin. In addition to its emollient properties, this ester acts to reduce the friction and dryness of cosmetic formulations, thus improving the spreadability and feel of the product.
Niacinamide
Also known as Vitamin B3, niacinamide helps to promote exfoliation. It also helps strengthen the skin’s barrier to prevent water loss.
Therosol®
Therosol® is a proprietary and patent-pending ingredient discovered by Therametics’ scientists. Research studies have shown that Therosol® can increase collagen and elastin production in human fibroblasts. It has also been found to have potent anti-inflammatory activity by blocking the production of a variety of inflammatory hormones in skin cells including fibroblasts and keratinocytes.
Stearic Acid
This naturally occurring 18 carbon fatty acid is found in vegetable oils. It is widely used in many cosmetic products as an emollient, emulsifier and lubricant. Because of its gentleness to the skin, it is used at concentrations up to 25%.
PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycol Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, and Cetearyl Alcohol
These non-irritating emulsifiers allow the oil and water phases of the lotion to mix evenly and form a stable emulsion. They are also emollients and moisturizers.
Cetyl Palmitate
This emollient also acts as a skin conditioner, helping to restore weathered and damaged skin to its natural state.
Dimethyl Isosorbide
Dimethyl Isosorbide is a safe, non-irritating cosmetic ingredient that serves as both a skin emollient and a skin penetration enhancer. It helps to facilitate the movement of “actives” into the skin.
