DermaMedics restorative serum

What is DermaMedics’ Restorative Serum?

Restorative Serum is a proprietary anti-aging formulation. This moisture-retaining formulation is non-comedogenic and gentle. The elegant, silicone base works to protect the skin’s barrier and reduce moisture loss. Restorative Serum rapidly improves skin texture and visibly reduces age-related fine lines and wrinkles. Developed by scientists after 20 years of basic skin biochemistry and aging research, Restorative Serum combats 5 major signs of aging by:

1) Minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,
2) Smoothing skin texture,
3) Providing a more even appearance in skin tone,
4) Reducing the appearance of blotches and age spots, and
5) Providing a visible increase in skin radiance.

Restorative Serum contains a unique and patent-pending complex called Therosol®III. This complex is a synergistic combination of botanically-derived ingredients that have been shown to rehabilitate mature, aging skin. Therosol®III also has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity that aids in soothing irritated skin.

How do I use Restorative Serum?

Restorative Serum is applied sparingly to aging-prone areas of the face and neck, back of hands, and to other areas of concern, immediately after cleansing skin with DermaMedics’ Foaming Facial Cleanser. If using Restorative Serum in combination with another product, please allow the first product to fully absorb before applying the second product. Although Restorative Serum can be used every day, we recommend withholding application one day a week. This helps prevent your skin from becoming acclimated to it and will allow the product to work most effectively. Restorative Serum is ideal for all skin types. As with any product, if irritation develops discontinue use.

If you are a first time user of Restorative Serum it is VERY important that you first test the product on a small area of the face for at least 3 days before using it over large areas. This 3 day test period will allow you to determine if your skin is compatible with Restorative Serum or if you may have a sensitivity to the product (see below for more information).

Are there any concerns I should know about using Restorative Serum?

Skin Allergy/Sensitivity

As stated above, Restorative Serum contains Therosol®III complex, a mixture of pure plant derived ingredients. These ingredients are found naturally in olives, cloves, and cinnamon and have an excellent safety profile. However, one of the ingredients in Therosol®III is commonly used in perfumes at fairly high concentrations. Because of this, someone who had previously become sensitized to a perfume that contains this ingredient may then be sensitized to Therosol®III. A sensitization reaction can occur very quickly and cause the skin to turn red and/or become itchy. This is why it is important to first test Restorative Serum on a small area of your skin for at least 3 days before applying it to other areas of the face. If skin sensitization does occur, you will need to switch to the SENSITIVE SKIN version of Restorative Serum, which does not contain this perfume-related ingredient and should, therefore, not cause this reaction.

Restorative Serum is NOT a moisturizer

Please remember that Restorative Serum is NOT a skin moisturizer. It does help to prevent moisture loss from the skin but it cannot replace the oils that your skin normally produces. Therefore, if you have very dry skin that does not produce enough of its own oils to replenish those lost from the skin throughout the day, you will need to use a facial moisturizer in addition to the Restorative Serum.

Cyclomethicone and Dimethiconol

A blend of 2 skin-friendly silicones that produce a greaseless, fast–absorbing, elegant feel when applied to the skin. They can quickly penetrate into the top-most layer of the skin (stratum corneum) where they help to produce a barrier against water loss, thus allowing the skin to retain moisture. This silicone blend is non-irritating and non-comedogenic.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

This naturally occurring triglyceride is prepared from coconut oil as well as from other plants. It is widely used in skin care products because it leaves a soft, non-greasy feel on the skin, improves spreading of creams & lotions, and is an excellent vehicle & solvent for active ingredients.

Dimethicone

Dimethicone is used widely in skin care products because of its safety, and for its superior spreadability and excellent emollient properties. Dimethicone has also been approved by the FDA for use as an Over-The-Counter skin protectant. It is extremely safe and gentle on the skin and acts as a barrier to protect the skin and reduce moisture loss.

Therosol®III Complex

Therosol®III is a patent-pending mixture of phytochemicals (purified ingredients from plants) that have been shown in laboratory cell culture studies with human dermal fibroblasts to: 1) stimulate collagen and elastin production, 2) reduce the expression of enzymes known as MMPs which break down collagen and elastin, and 3) reduce the production of inflammatory hormones that can cause rapid skin aging.
