Why Use Our DermaRad Relief System?
Cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment will likely experience significant cosmetic skin problems such as dryness, skin roughness and redness. These conditions typically worsen as radiation treatments progress. To help maintain a healthy looking skin, patients need to use creams or lotions that provide extremely high levels of moisturizing oils, humectants, and antioxidants. DermaRad Relief Rehydrating Emulsion was specifically designed to meet the skin care needs of radiation patients. This unique formulation utilizes gentle, skin friendly oils and humectants resulting in a highly moisturizing lotion that is soothing and gentle to sensitive and damaged skin. In addition, the patented antioxidants in DermaRad Relief are potent inhibitors of surface free radicals.

DermaRad Relief Post Radiation Serum 1.7oz
How It Works
DermaRad Relief Post Radiation Calming Serum has been designed for use by cancer patients that experience cosmetic skin problems such as redness and dryness that can be addressed by moisturizing skin care products. This serum provides superior fast absorbing moisturization without the “greasy” or “tacky” feel of other moisturizers. In addition, this product contains 3 skin friendly moisturizing oils partitioned into a cosmetic silicone base. Finally, because it is a silicone based product, Calming Serum contains no emulsifying agents (soap-like chemicals), which are found in all lotions and creams, but which can sting or irritate extremely sensitive and damaged skin. Because there are no emulsifying agents in this silicone based product, Calming Serum is gentle enough to be applied as often as needed to any area of skin, even abraded or blistered skin, to moisturize the skin and prevent dehydration.
Directions For Use
For patients who have started radiation treatments and whose skin is already red, burned or blistered, DermaRad Relief Post Radiation Calming Serum is an ideal product to apply to damaged skin. The silicone based Serum easily glides onto the skin with no effort and no rubbing necessary. Because of the high level of moisturizing oils in the product it will immediately soothe red and even blistered skin.
This product can be applied liberally as often as needed to soothe and moisturize the area of skin being irradiated, but use should be discontinued 4 hours before any radiation treatment. Since this product is not as strong as DermaRad Relief Topical Rehydrating Emulsion, the Rehydrating Emulsion should be used throughout all of the radiation treatments to.maximize the moisturizing and rehydrating benefits of the lotion. However, to avoid any temporary stinging to damaged skin caused by the emulsifiers in the DermaRad Relief Topical Rehydrating Emulsion, the Calming Serum can be applied to the irradiated area first as a "pre-treatment" and once it has been allowed to absorb into the skin, DermaRad Relief Topical Rehydrating Emulsion should then be applied to the same area.

What’s the difference between the DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion and DermaRad Relief® Post-Radiation Calming Serum?
The DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion is our strongest product and is designed to help you maintain a healthy, soft, supple and moisturized looking skin during radiation. In addition, it has the highest concentration of DermaMedics’ patented antioxidant. This product should always be the one to use when going through radiation treatments. The DermaRad Relief® Post-Radiation Calming Serum was specifically designed for use by those patients who have completed their radiation sessions but did not use the Topical Rehydrating Emulsion at all during their treatment. In this case it is likely that the skin is very red, sore, and perhaps blistered. The Post-Radiation Calming Serum was specifically designed to be extremely gentle and compatible with abraded and blistered skin. The serum contains moisturizing oils, silicones and antioxidants. It contains no emulsifiers (a required ingredient for creams and lotions that can irritate skin). The Serum glides onto the skin without having to apply any rubbing pressure that could cause discomfort to tender skin. The moisturizing oils combined with the silicones help prevent water loss and allow the skin to stay hydrated during the healing process. The non-greasy, non-tacky Post-Radiation Calming Serum absorbs quickly so there is no concern of clothes “sticking” to the product.
How often can I apply DermaRad Relief® Post-Radiation Calming Serum?
If you are applying the Calming Serum while still going through your radiation treatments, you may apply the Serum as often as necessary to soothe your skin, but you should not apply it 4 hours before having a radiation treatment. If you are using it after you have completely finished all of your radiation treatments, you may apply it anytime and as often as needed.
Is it ok to use the DermaRad Relief® Post-Radiation Calming Serum instead of DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion while going through my radiation treatments?
No. If you are just starting your radiation treatments, you should ALWAYS use the DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion. The Post-Radiation Serum should only be used if your skin becomes blistered or tender.
I was not aware of DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion until I had already completed 20 of the scheduled 30 radiation treatments. My skin is very red, somewhat blistered and it’s very sore to the touch. Which product should I use: the DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion or the DermaRad Relief® Post-Radiation Calming Serum?
Since the DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion is our strongest product, this lotion should always be the first choice to use during your radiation treatments. However, if you didn’t start using the Topical Rehydrating Emulsion when you started your treatment, your skin may be very red and tender to the touch. If this is the case, applying the Topical Rehydrating Emulsion may temporarily sting, and rubbing it on tender skin will be uncomfortable. For skin that is red, dry and damaged, we recommend applying the Post-Radiation Calming Serum to the treated areas first. You will notice that the product glides onto the skin with no rubbing required. Within minutes the Post Radiation Calming Serum will begin to soothe and moisturize your skin. Once the Serum has absorbed, the DermaRad Relief® Topical Rehydrating Emulsion can be applied to the same area and you should not experience any stinging or discomfort.
